Printed using stunning stone lithography, this kitschy Kong poster was issued for the first Egyptian release of Ishiro Honda's 1967 Japanese-American kaiju (monster) movie King Kong Escapes in 1988. Loosely adapted from the Rankin/Bass cartoon The King Kong Show and released in Japan as Kingukongu no Gyakushu, the Toho-produced sci-fi adventure saw everyone's favourite giant ape King Kong battle his robot replica Mechani-Kong in a fight to the death at the top of Tokyo tower, after evading evil captor Dr. Who.

Very good (B+)
Conservation backed on linen with no restoration. Prior to backing this poster had one vertical and three horizontal folds, plus additional light horizontal folds 6½ in. above and below the central horizontal, with some surface wear and double creasing to fold lines, split to the central crossfold and minor nicks and tears to corners and edges. Backing has smoothed and diminished these minor imperfections for display.
