A splendid stone lithograph poster with bold Art Deco artwork by noted Swedish designer Eric Rohman for the Swedish release of MGM's 1933 pre-Code romantic drama Hold Your Man. Starring regular collaborators Jean Harlow and Clark Gable as small time swindling soul mates who set out to con a married man, the hit picture promised an entertaining portrayal of 1930s life on the lam. A film of two halves, Hold Your Man presents a fascinating mix of racy pre-Code romantic comedy and post-Code moralising, as the characters are punished with incarceration following their initial scandalous behaviour, before they are redeemed with their emergence into conventional legitimate life. Harlow and Gable would star in six movies together before Harlow's untimely death in 1937 at the age of 26.

Condition

Excellent (A-)

Conservation backed on linen. Backing has smoothed and diminished one vertical and one horizontal fold. Minor black surface color loss along vertical fold. Minor nicks and tiny tears to edges. Printer's ink misting to margins. Image and colours otherwise excellent.
