Paramount's 1968 sexy science fiction comedy Barbarella, based on the Italian comic book of the same name, follows Jane Fonda as 41st century space-vixen Barbarella, tasked with finding fugitive scientist Durand Durand whose deadly positronic ray could spell the end of humanity. Though it premiered to mixed reviews, the film is now considered a cult classic, influencing Jean Paul Gaultier's costume designs for The Fifth Element and inspiring the name of pop band Duran Duran. Based on the Robert McGinnis design for the American campaign, Mario De Berardinis' artwork for this Italian due fogli features the same central figure of Barbarella, but flanked by a hairy-chested Ugo Tognazi as the "Catchman" Mark Hand and a bare-breasted Anita Pallenberg as The Great Tyrant.

Condition

Excellent (A-)

Backed on linen in the European style with no restoration. Prior to backing this poster had one vertical and three horizontal fold lines as issued with minor wear and splits to fold lines, minor nicks and tears to edges and light creasing to upper left corner. Backing has smoothed the folds, minor splits and edge tears so that they are virtually invisible. Pin holes to corners and edges. Three Italian tax stamps to upper left. Image and colours excellent.
