Featuring a stylish photomontage with Clint Eastwood’s surly stare front and centre, this scarce B2 poster advertised the first Japanese release  of Sergio Leone's 1964 Spaghetti Western A Fistful of Dollars. First released in Italy as Per un pugno di dollari the landmark low-budget film rejuvenated the Western genre, created the popular Spaghetti Western sub-genre, and set its mysterious anti-hero gunslinger Clint Eastwood on the road to legendary superstardom. Based on Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo, Eastwood starred in his first leading role as a nameless world-weary gunman who agrees to work for warring gangs, ultimately pitting the two factions against each other. The "Man with No Name" returned in For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, the three films forming Leone’s "Dollar Trilogy." Recognising its groundbreaking style and cinematography, Quentin Tarantino has described A Fistful of Dollars as the greatest achievement in the history of Cinema.

Condition

Very Good (B+)

Unfolded, not backed. Light undulation to paper from being softly tri-folded with a stack of other posters at one time. Nicks, creases and handling wear to corners and edges. 0.5in. vertical tear to lower edge. Slight darkening to edges. Image and colours otherwise excellent.
