Japanese B2
This fantastically bizarre Japanese poster offers some of the best artwork created to promote The Beatles 1968 hit psychedelic musical animation Yellow Submarine, with its optical illusions, lush visuals and colourful characters. Directed by George Dunning and inspired by the song of the same name, Yellow Submarine saw the cartoon Beatles take on the evil Blue Meanies to save Pepperland, against a soundtrack of their previous hits, together with four songs composed and recorded specifically for the film. This poster was issued for the first release of the film in Japan in 1969.
Condition
Excellent (A-)
Backed on linen. Prior to backing this poster had one vertical and three horizontal fold lines with minor wear to crossfolds and a few minor nicks to edges. Backing has smoothed the folds and diminished the minor imperfections. A few fine vertical lines at right edge which appear to be discrepancies in the print. Light undulation to linen. Image and colours otherwise excellent.
