The dazzling Art Deco design, standout typography and vividly contrasting candy pink and emerald green tones combine to irresistible effect on this rare US One Sheet poster for the 1934 Paramount Pictures romantic comedy Ready For Love. The enchanting Ida Lupino starred as a boarding school runaway who falls in love with the handsome newspaper editor who arrives to cover a witchcraft trial in her aunt’s small town, and the pair head off to a happy-ever-after in New York. Notably, the film marked the first appearance of the dog who would go on to appear as Toto in The Wizard of Oz.

Condition

Very Good (B+)

Conservation backed on linen. Backing and spots of minor colour touching have smoothed and diminished one vertical and three horizontal machine folds and a small ½in. tear to lower edge. A minor ½x¼in. restoration at upper edge where there was surface paper loss to verso. 1½in. crease to left edge, a few creases to white ground at lower right corner and a handful of minor surface scuffs and blemishes. One pinhole to upper edge. Slight lifting to linen along lower edge. Image and colours otherwise excellent.
