In Sean Connery's second outing as James Bond, From Russia With Love saw the British spy battling a secret crime organisation known as Spectre. The follow-up to 007's 1962 debut in Dr. No, Terence Young's From Russia With Love further developed the Bond formula with elaborate titles, fast-paced action sequences, a John Barry score and the introduction of Desmond LLewelyn as Q with his myriad gadgets, a role he would play for 36 years.

Featured on the cover of James Bond Movie Posters by Tony Nourmand and widely regarded as one of the most beautiful posters ever designed for a James Bond film, Boris Grinsson's stunning painterly artwork for the French Grande followed the blueprint set by Eric Pulford and Renato Fratini for the British promotional campaign, which established the signature Bond pose.

    Provenance

    Very good (B+)

Conservation backed on linen. Prior to backing this poster had three vertical and three horizontal machine folds as issued, with minor splits to crossfolds, pin holes to corners, and a small, closed, semi-circular puncture to black jacket. Backing and sensitive colour touching has smoothed and diminished the folds and minor puncture. A few spots of yellowish staining around Connery's head, which are not distracting as they blend with the style and colour of the artwork. Image and colours otherwise excellent. A fine example of this rare and beautiful poster.
