Playing off the film's titillating title, Mieczyslaw Wasilewski's cheeky monochrome design for the first Polish release of 1980s coming-of-age classic Dirty Dancing has us swooning. Sweet and unashamedly schmaltzy, yet peppered with subtle social commentary, the steamy romantic dance drama starred Jennifer Grey as the naive "Baby" Houseman, who falls in love with Patrick Swayze as the hip-swinging dance instructor at Kellerman's holiday resort during the summer of 1963. With its endlessly quotable dialogue, charming career-defining performances and euphoric final dance number, Dirty Dancing was a feel-good phenomenon, becoming the first film to sell a million copies on video and spawning one of the best-selling soundtrack albums of all time.

    Provenance

    Very good (B+)

Unfolded, conservation backed on linen. Light colour touching to black ground at upper right where an area of heavy ballpoint pen showed through from the reverse. Staple hole to upper left corner. Image and colours otherwise excellent.
