A striking concert poster in black ink on goldenrod paper by Randy Tuten for the first show on The Who's North American “Fallout Shelter” Tour at the Cow Palace in San Francisco on 20th November 1973, in support of their newly released album Quadrophenia. Famously, the band's drummer Keith Moon collapsed on his drums mid-way through the show, incapacitated by the tranquillisers and brandy that he'd consumed to calm his pre-show nerves. After stopping the show to announce that Moon had eaten something he shouldn't have eaten... foreign food, Pete Townshend asked if anybody in the audience could fill in for the rest of the show. Nineteen-year old Scott Halpin from Iowa emerged from the crowd to play the final three songs of the show with The Who.

    Provenance

    Excellent (A-)

Unfolded, not backed. Bumps and creases to corners and minor nicks to edges. Small faint spot to lower portion above "Record."
