They call themselves "The Goonies." The secret caves. The old lighthouse. The lost map. The treacherous traps. The hidden treasure. And Sloth... Join the adventure.
A cult classic among nostalgic kids of the eighties with a sentimental air of all-American innocence, the 1985 fantasy adventure The Goonies follows a band of young Oregon misfits who, hoping to save their homes from demolition, stumble across an old treasure map that takes them on an adventure to unearth a vast underground cave of long-lost pirate treasure, while chased by a family of local criminals. Based on a quintessentially Spielbergian story by Steven Spielberg, echoing his work on Raiders of the Lost Ark, the film starred child actors Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Corey Feldman, Kerry Green, Martha Plimpton and Jonathan Ke Quan, many of whom have gone on to have successful careers in their adult lives. Perhaps one day they will be reunited for the ever-rumoured Goonies sequel. Designed by Drew Struzan, the US One Sheet poster features the gang, headed by hearthhrob Josh Brolin, hanging precariously from a stalactite in the underground cavern.
Unfolded, not backed. A few minor nicks to corners and edges. Light handling creases to margins, and the odd light crease or handling ding to image. Image and colours otherwise excellent.
