A surly Michael Caine stalks the Newcastle docks as ruthless London gangster Jack Carter on this scarce Japanese B2 poster for the first theatrical release of cult 1971 British crime thriller Get Carter in Japan. Based on Ted Lewis' 1970 pulp novel Jack's Return Home and directed by Mike Hodges in his directorial debut, the film follows the eponymous Carter's return to his crime-hardened hometown in North East England to investigate and avenge his brother's death. Noted for its realistic portrayal of violence and criminal behaviour and accurate depiction of class structure and life in 1970s Britain, the film garnered a cult following in the early 90s following endorsements from directors such as Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie and a 1993 home video release. By 1999, Get Carter was ranked 16th on the BFI Top 100 British films of the 20th century and is widely recognised as one of the greatest British crime films ever produced.

Condition

Conservation backed on linen with no restoration. Backing has smoothed two horizontal folds so that they are virtually invisible and diminished minor edge wear and a tiny ¼in. vertical tear to upper edge. Image and colours excellent.
