A scarce original Sire Records promo poster for the 1983 release of avant-garde 80s rock group Talking Heads fifth studio album Speaking In Tongues. Designed by the band's frontman David Byrne, who had studied photography at art school before forming the group, the poster features a mixed media composite of black and white head-and-shoulder photographs of Byrne and fellow band members Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth, and Jerry Harrison. Born out of the new wave scene in 1970s New York, the prolific and genre-defying group smashed out their first four albums in four years, taking a brief hiatus in the early 80s before making their big commercial breakthrough with the release of Speaking In Tongues and hit single Burning Down The House in 1983. Along with the promo poster, Byrne also designed the album cover for Speaking In Tongues, while an alternate limited edition version featured a Grammy Award winning design by artist Robert Rauschenberg.

Condition

Very good to excellent (B+)

Unfolded, not backed. Nicks, creases and small tears to edges, no larger than ¼in. A few surface scuffs and light creases through image. Colours excellent.
