Without a doubt one of the most sought after and valuable modern movie posters, this rare advance US One Sheet for Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece Pulp Fiction was recalled by Miramax due to the threat of litigation by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company over the unauthorized use of the Lucky Strike cigarette trademark. The studio re-issued the advance with a generic cigarette packet pictured instead. James Verdesoto's retro-kitsch design was intended to resemble a beat-up pulp novel, with a faux 'distressed' appearance, however this copy remains in excellent condition. Due to the poster's scarcity and popularity, numerous fakes are in circulation. The majority of reproductions feature differing dimensions to the original, are cropped at the top edge, and display white specks at Uma Thurman's chest. This poster has been authenticated as a true original.
Tarantino's ultra-violent comedic crime thriller Pulp Fiction followed the intertwining tales of Los Angeles oddballs John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman and Bruce Willis with a punchy dialogue and a mixing pot of B-movie, pulp and pop culture references. A cool and critically acclaimed cult classic, Pulp Fiction was a huge financial success for Miramax and the most influential film of the decade, changing the face of independent cinema.
Condition
Excellent (A)
Unfolded, not backed. A tiny dog-ear to lower left corner, a tiny nick to lower right corner, a whisper of colour wear along edges and a handful of soft handling dings only visible from certain angles. Image and colours excellent.
