A vibrant pink poster for a performance by American garage punk band The Cramps at Hyde Park, Osnabrück, Germany on 15 April 1986 in support of their third studio album A Date With Elvis. Part of the CBGB punk rock scene in New York, The Cramps are noted as one of the first American garage punk bands and pioneers of psychobilly. Active until 2009 with an evolving line-up, husband and wife duo Lux Interior and Poison Ivy comprised the only ever-present members. The poster design reflected the band's post-glam punk image and penchant for retro horror/sci-fi b-movie iconography.
Very good (B+)
Unfolded, backed on linen in the European style with no restoration whatsoever. Prior to backing this poster had creasing and minor nicks and tears to right of lower edge with fine surface loss and a 1 in. horizontal tear to right edge. Backing has smoothed and diminished these minor imperfections. Writing in black ink verso bleeds through to the inset picture at lower right, though is not very noticeable or distracting. Image and colours otherwise excellent.
